Obviously there's a ton more going on but I can speak with conviction about what's happening in my own back yard - a friend pointed out recently that if Trump really wants to rout all queer folks from the systems of the Federal government, God help him when he tries it with tech.

There are plenty of 'quite good' people in tech. The few absolutely stellar engineers I know? The ones who quietly keep things together and at a level where 'quite good' can do the rest?

All queer.

All of them.

The system breaking down would absolutely suck - and obviously queer people should be allowed to live in peace and keep their jobs - but I can't help but wonder about all of the new opportunities for resistance that would probably open up since nothing would be as secure or efficient.

Oh, it would certainly have its benefits. Even the cis engineers I've known, I've known a total of one half-decent ops engineer who was right-wing.

They're shooting themselves in their own arse. It's mad.

I won't shed a fucking tear for them.

The counterpoint of course is that Musk does have swathes of indoctrinated kids who tend Right and tickle Andrew Tate's balls. I do have a blind spot with the fresh-out-of-college demographic.

I'm sure there are a few actually capable kids in the bunch, but overall, the general quality of a college education around here has been going down for the majority of institutions. In my opinion at least. And with spotty on the job training available even in the current system. . .
